About Rather Good

We make Rather Good films. Co-founders Sarah Bellingham and Max Toomey met as students at the Columbia Journalism School where they specialized in documentary film. Collaborating on project after project, they found that they shared a common goal: to create work that would help others. When it comes to our documentary work, we have gratitude and respect for anyone who shares their story with us. We combine investigative journalism with empathy and intellectual analysis. We love to saturate ourselves in research. And finally, we believe that great journalism and aesthetic beauty can exist hand in hand. We began our commercial work to help support our documentaries, and found joy in working with academic departments, NGOs, and other organizations. Pre-COVID, we filmed lectures and conferences, cut social media videos, and produced short films. We now do end-to-end production with COVID-safe filming, livestream, and digital conference capabilities.
