Founded by international acting coach/filmmaker Sophie Ann Rooney in Paris (1997), later established in Vancouver (2007) and Toronto (2011), RAW Actor Studio has trained actors for Theatre, Film, TV, Voice Over, and Video Games worldwide. As one of Canada's top studios for emerging and established actors, RAW is committed to growing the Canadian performance arts and entertainment industry. Our passionate faculty are experienced professionals who mentor actors through their artistic journey. Sophie’s training philosophy is rooted in her experiences as a professional actor, director, and mentor. She worked closely with Lee Strasberg’s protégé, Amy Werba, and Stanislavski’s student, Blanche Salant. This solid foundation, combined with her education at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama, Oxford School of Speech & Drama, and EICAR, forms the backbone of our programs. However, the real game-changers are the innovative techniques Sophie has developed herself: PATHWEY, LEAD, and so much more!
