About Reach Alternatives (REALs)
Since 1999, REALs has been dedicated to conflict prevention and peacebuilding in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Our vision is a society where conflict, violent extremism, and social violence can be prevented and overcome, fostering co-existence among people of diverse backgrounds. Mission: Collaborate with parties to conflict and affected communities, creating and implementing realistic options for preventing and solving problems without causing further harm. Our name reflects our commitment to creating new alternatives and working together to achieve them. Our approach is based on five key areas: 1. Prevention of Conflict,Violent Extremism and Violence: Identify causes and signs of conflict; implement early warning, early response, mediation, and sustainable mechanisms for resolution and prevention. 2.Co-existence / Social Cohesion: Help communities overcome divisions by supporting locally-driven initiatives and transferring expertise for sustained efforts. 3. Gender: Incorporate a gender perspective in all operations, empowering both women and men as agents of change and peacebuilding in accordance with local contexts. 4. Psychosocial Support: Provide support to victims of conflict, violence, and abuse; train local community workers for sustainable support and early identification of emerging problems. 5. Emergency Assistance: Offer assistance in crisis situations, using expertise in early warning and response to develop prevention, mitigation, and immediate response strategies. Through these approaches, REALs is committed to making a lasting positive impact on the lives of individuals and communities affected by conflict, violence, and social injustice.
