About Ready, Set, Grow! School Garden Network

At Ready, Set, Grow! School Garden Network, we believe that every child deserves the chance to dig in the soil, plant a seed, and discover the joy of watching it grow. Our nonprofit works to bring garden and nutrition education into schools and communities, giving children hands-on experiences that spark curiosity, encourage healthy habits, and build a lifelong connection to the natural world. We do this through our School Garden Docent Program, a parent- and volunteer-led model that makes school gardens sustainable, engaging, and accessible. Docents receive training and support to deliver standards-aligned lessons that weave gardening into science, health, and environmental education. Students not only learn where their food comes from—they also practice teamwork, problem solving, and mindfulness in the garden. Our work is about more than growing vegetables. It’s about growing healthier kids, stronger families, and more connected communities. Every garden lesson is an opportunity for children to taste fresh produce, explore the outdoors, and gain the confidence that comes from nurturing something living. By partnering with schools, districts, and community supporters, Ready, Set, Grow! is building a network of thriving school gardens that inspire learning, wellness, and joy.
