About Real Food CT
Real Food CT is on a mission to make healthy, locally grown food accessible to everyone — especially those who need it most. Founded in 2019, we connect small farms with food access partners across Connecticut through gleaning, surplus produce recovery, and regenerative community farming. By building a resilient regional food system, we support local farmers, train young leaders, and ensure fresh, nutrient-rich food reaches food-insecure households. Our programs now deliver 100,000+ pounds of fresh produce annually to 20+ food pantries from Bridgeport to Danbury. With two production farms, a seasonal internship program, school and youth gardening initiatives, and partnerships across the state, Real Food CT is driving collaborative, scalable food system change. We’re expanding our gleaning and surplus food recovery efforts as part of a broader food hub infrastructure project — strengthening farm-to-pantry distribution and creating a streamlined system that moves more fresh food, faster, to where it’s needed most. These efforts align with our advocacy for systemic solutions rooted in equity, sustainability, and public health.
