About Rebus Theatre and Workplace Training
Rebus delivers Workplace Empathy Training, for community, government and private organisations. Rebus has developed this training – which covers topics of inclusion , mental health, disability and workplace cultural change – based on the lived experiences of its members and the community. Rebus uses “forum theatre” which is a format allowing participants to interact with the actors and practice real life skills for the workplace in a dignified, entertaining and non-threatening atmosphere. In each training session, participants are presented with a short scenario with an undesirable outcome, which the audience watches uninterrupted. The actors then replay the scenario and members of the audience are invited to interrupt, replace an actor, and explore how they could do things differently to change the outcome. This unique training model allows individuals the freedom to either participate in the scenarios, or observe interventions by colleagues, allowing for a wide range of problem-solving approaches to emerge from the collective experiences of staff. The scenarios include a range of situations relevant to upper management and front-line staff, stimulating managers and staff at all levels to work together to solve problems by learning from each other’s experiences and ideas.
