The future of Ageing in Place is here with the launch of Red Crowns Senior Living, the first co-living concept for seniors in Singapore. Ageing in place in Singapore would be affordable, accessible, and of standards comparable to other advanced economies. Red Crowns Senior Living is Singapore’s first co-living concept for seniors in Singapore with the goal to provide high-quality co-living support to seniors and create a safe, residential ecosystem for the ageing population. This official launch comes at the heels of a successful soft launch in April last year as a social enterprise. For Joshua Goh, the founder and CEO of Red Crowns Senior Living, the inspiration to launch the company came from personal experiences and the challenges he faced while looking for a quality safe space for his father. “My 86 year old father is one of the first residents of Red Crowns Senior Living, following his hospital discharge in 2020 after a series of falls. I wanted to find an ideal senior care solution for him and realised that there were many gaps in the system, including the cost of non-subsidised nursing homes, a potential loss of freedom and autonomy, lack of suitable caregivers, a lack of space to accommodate a domestic helper in a multiple-family home, and more. As a result, I came up with the idea of creating sustainable living outcomes for people like my father,” he shares. Currently, the company provides its services for more than 200 seniors in over 40 locations throughout the country and is looking to secure new locations as more seniors come on board the programme. “We want to provide the seniors in Singapore with the ability to age in place, with dignity and autonomy. With many seniors on our waiting list, we’re looking to connect more of them with the suitable housemates and living environments that they deserve in the coming year. Technology and advancements can add years to life. We hope our mission is able to add life to years,” shares Joshua.
