About Red Door Urban Missions
Red Door Urban Missions (RDUM) is a nonprofit organization that holistically serves those that have been marginalized, neglected, and ignored by meeting their unmet needs in love with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since its inception in 2017, RDUM desires to seek the welfare of the city (Jer. 29:7) by marrying the Great Commandment (Mt. 22:37-40) and the Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20) in living out the gospel. It is our aim to inspire vision and hope for how God can use people of all ages, of different people groups to reach out to the hurting, hungry, homeless, and lost in our city. RDUM center provides meal service through a partnership with YMCA of Memphis & the Mid-South, spiritual counseling, structured youth activities, general referrals, and assistance at Creekside Meadows Apartments since June 2016. In September 2017, RDUM began providing the same services at New Horizon Apartments. These services are provided to over 450 youth and their families year-round. In the fall of 2018, Red Door Urban Missions began planning with Second Chance Connections Inc, a local 501c3 organization, to provide a holistic approach for the residents at New Horizon Apartments and comprehensively address the needs of both youth and adult residents in this community. Currently, these services are offered in three converted four-bedroom apartments at NHA. Daily meal service for ages 18 and under, organized sports and games, literacy intervention, parenting skills workshop, homework help, and other services are welcomed by the residents at the Red Door. In an apartment across from the Red Door (known as the Blue Door), residents receive social services, including mental health counseling, mentoring, workforce development, drug abuse referrals, adult literacy classes for English Language Learners (ELL), domestic violence counseling, and emergency food and clothing as needed.
