In 2018, Filmmaker Andrew Gregg and Producer Deborah Parks co-founded 'Red Trillium Films Inc.' Their shared passion for compelling narratives, education, and science, set against breathtaking landscapes, is the cornerstone of their work. Gregg continues to venture off the beaten path, exploring unconventional topics and answering burning questions. Their debut documentary, 'First Animals,' premiered on CBC's 'The Nature of Things' in 2019 in collaboration with the Royal Ontario Museum. Guided by renowned evolutionary biologist Maydianne Andrade, the film travels back half a billion years to the Cambrian Explosion, exploring the origins of life through newly-discovered fossils of the first animals on earth. Their second feature, 'Skymaster Down,' filmed mainly in Canada's Yukon, has been broadcast on CBC's Documentary Channel. The film is as much a love letter to the beautiful, vast, and majestic landscapes of Canada's north as it is an ode to the devastating disappearance of a U.S. troop plane that went missing without a trace with 44 people on board in 1950. 'Bug Sex (It's Complicated)", their third documentary, premiered on March 10th of 2023. The film, narrated by the infamous David Suzuki before his retirement, captivated audiences on CBC's 'The Nature of Things' with intriguing stories and stunning shots across Canada, the US and Hawai'i, and Uruguay. The film's title is prophetic, encouraging viewers to embrace their inner voyeur and explore the shocking and captivating world of bug reproduction.
