About Refuge for Women Pittsburgh
Refuge for Women is expanding its evidenced-based, trauma-informed program to Pittsburgh, first by opening an Emergency Home for survivors referred by law enforcement, healthcare and service providers, and self-identified. Complementing the work of local leading nonprofits who serve individuals experiencing crisis, homelessness, and mental health issues, our Emergency Housing will offer Care and Comfort, Treatment and Stabilization and Outreach and Education. The mission of Refuge for Women, a national, faith-based nonprofit with 10 sites in 5 states that has supported 400+ survivors, is to empower sexually exploited women to live a life of freedom through residential healing programs. In 2009, we began to pioneer a unique multisite continuum of care model, helping women move from dangerous situations into free and safe housing, with trauma informed healing and life skills programming supported by licensed professionals and 24/7 staffing.
