About Regina Transition House
Regina Transition House is a recognized leader in responsive, effective human service. We create space for women and children where they can change their lives. To meet this we do followings: Safe Temporary Housing Regina Transition House provides a safe haven for women and children but not at the cost of losing a homelike atmosphere. Counselling / Support / Referral While at Transition House, staff provide information, support, options and alternatives and a holistic response to the needs of women and children. Children's Programming The shelter’s Children’s Counsellors focuses on the needs of children both in shelter and in our Outreach program. Program priorities are risk assessment, supportive counselling and parenting assistance. Significant program time is committed to work with mothers on issues of child development, realistic expectations and constructive discipline. Outreach Program Shelter clients have the option of participating in the “Bridges of Hope” Outreach Program which provides ongoing support and services to women and children from the time of their departure from shelter until they establish independence in the community. Programming focuses on assisting women to maintain stable housing, connecting with community supports and achieving a life without violence. Cultural Programming The shelter hosts regular in-house visits, feasts, ceremonies and sharing circles with a local Elder. Public Education and Awareness Regina Transition House provides information to the public on the issue of interpersonal violence. Presentations have been provided to groups such as the Saskatchewan Police College, the RCMP, Nursing Education Program, work preparation programs, service groups, businesses and community associations.
