About Reliance Public Relations
Reliance Public Relations, Inc. (formerly Reliance Communications) was founded by Bill and Sue Gay in 1997 in El Centro, California. It serves clients in the Southern California region, primarily in Imperial County. Reliance is a veteran-owned business. Reliance Public Relations has handled public relations for a variety of public and private agencies including the Imperial Valley Community College District, Bear Valley Electric Service, the City of El Centro, and the Salton Sea Authority. It has also helped coordinate successful bond elections, including the $58 million Measure L bond measure passed in 2004 by Imperial Valley College as well as Measure J, an $80 million bond measure for Imperial Valley College in 2010. It 2008, it was part of a team that helped pass Measure D, a sales tax extension for Imperial County transportation infrastructure. In 2006, Liberty Energy retained Reliance, in partnership with Valley Solutions LLC, for community relations work in connection with its efforts to site a biomass-fueled energy plant in Imperial County. Reliance is also subcontracted with Valley Solutions to handle outreach for the Mesquite Landfill development near the town site of Glamis on behalf of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County and is as well as the investor-owned Western Goldfields (Mesquite) Mine in the Glamis area. Reliance has planned, arranged and conducted strategic planning workshops for major agencies including Imperial Valley College and the City of El Centro. These included development of focus groups and community workshops. Other work for Reliance has included major event promotion, including all California Mid Winter Fairs and Fiestas since 2000. In 1998, Reliance was retained by the Imperial Valley Joint Chambers of Commerce to develop the first Imperial Valley Joint Chambers of Commerce Business Showcase that was held in January, 1999. Reliance has handled coordination of all ten of the annual shows since then.
