About Resilience+ Innovation Facility

The Resilience+ Innovation Facility at UC Davis is leveraging a decade of field evidence generate Resilience+ and accelerate efforts to sustainably strengthen food security and spur inclusive agricultural transformation. Established in December 2021 with a five-year grant from the Gates Foundation, we design and implement targeted, large-scale projects that will spark Resilience+. The Resilience+ Innovation Facility is takes a market-focused approach to implement targeted projects that have the potential to generate Resilience+. The facility’s partner, BFA Global leads partnerships with in-country private sector partners and building the business case for our projects to be implemented on a large scale in a way that will be self-sustaining. In the process, we are also addressing key gaps in evidence about this approach to promoting inclusive agricultural transformation. At the same time, when financial or agronomic tools reduce losses or provide support when times are bad, farmers often make those investments, and they reap the rewards at harvest. These two together—resilience to shocks and investments that drive higher productivity—are the foundation of Resilience+. The Resilience+ Innovation Facility at UC Davis designs and implements targeted, large-scale projects that will spark Resilience+. These market-focused efforts are driven by partnerships with in-country private-sector companies to ensure success is lasting.
