About RetreaTours
We design and lead small-group, carbon-negative journeys around the globe–sometimes literally, with a focus on Around the World tours! All of our tours are triple-carbon offset, from the time our guests leave their front door to the time they return home. RetreaTours is a small, family-owned business that focuses on making international travel easy, safe, comfortable, and fun. Our eye for detail and focus on simplicity means that our guests can focus on their adventure and leave the technicalities to us. We enthusiastically manage big logistics like transportation and accommodation, as well as comforting specifics like ordering meals family-style, so you can leave your thinking cap at home on one of our journeys. You shouldn't need a vacation when you get home from vacation! Husband-and-wife team BJ Graf and Lauren Rathvon moved out of the U.S. in 2013 to focus full-time on creating meaningful experiences around the world. Eight years of living in hotels has taught us a thing or three about what it takes to make our guests comfortable abroad! Our combined decades of experience in social work, healthcare, and education lay the solid foundation from which we creatively build unique, impactful itineraries. We craft each trip to maximize the greatest good for the greatest number, including our guests, our partners, and the local community. We strive to use local guides, locally-owned hotels, and eat at locally-owned restaurants, keeping our guests travel dollars within the community. We also support many local non-profits on a grass roots level, with a particular soft spot for street dog welfare organizations. We're thrilled to partner with Tricycle: The Buddhist Review magazine to design and escort their pilgrimages around the world, including India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Mongolia. One of our specifialites is the life of the historic Buddha and facilitating tours in the footsteps of the Buddha throughout India and Nepal.
