Reworked 348 ® The Clothing Company That Doesn’t Make Clothes ® Established 2019. We search original utility, military and workwear clothing and reimagine its look, fit, feel and purpose. No item is second-hand. None new. Each garment is respected for having its own unique story. Each piece reworked for wearability. For today. An estimated 150 billion new garments are produced each year. The negative impact on the environment is well documented. With the UK responsible for an estimated 11 million garments ending up in landfill every week, we believe that it is this mass overproduction that drives waste. As life-long creators and makers we have no desire to add to this. So, we take what’s already there and reimagine it for now. Reworking The Industry: A desire not to add to the industry’s negative production cycle story felt very personal. And in striving for that different narrative for ourselves, it meant that we started to take a closer look at what amounted to original garments that were not only unworn but of Grade A quality; them being created with durability and hard work in mind. Undeniably made of the right stuff, we started to firstly deconstruct and then redesign these items in a more contemporary style. Creating pieces that we ourselves love to wear for the fit, the feel, and for as importantly, their stories. We were told by any number of people that it would be easier and cheaper to produce clothes from scratch. And they were all right. So finding a mass manufacturer that understood why we were doing it - but was also in tune with our designs - was always going to be tough. Finding small independent makers based near to our design studio has enabled us to keep the whole process – from design & development to production - as local as possible.
