RFG Distributing is a family owned, third-generation business. Started by Glenn Thoeny in 1967, sons Craig and Mark Thoeny purchased the business in 1983. RFG president Steve Thoeny joined the team in 1990. RFG Distributing was named 2011 Ken Chancey Distributor of the Year by PIDA. This award recognizes distributors for policies and practices that help make the companies valued partners. "We grew up in the pet industry and understand our customers' needs," comments Steve Thoeny. "We are pet people. As consultants, we offer the best products to help independent pet specialty businesses prosper." PIDA also awarded RFG first place for Outstanding Sales Support, first place for Logistics and Operations and second place for Marketing and Promotions. RFG's team of employees have worked in all facets of the pet industry including retail, manufacturing, sales, dog and cat shows, field trials, special pet events and home delivery. By partnering with our customers to provide the right support, our customers grow and become more successful, right along with RFG. RFG serves 14 states including Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Oklahoma, Arkansas, the UP of Michigan, Indiana and Colorado. Today, RFG has two locations in Crystal, Minnesota and three additional locations in Des Moines, Iowa and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A new distribution facility opened in Springfield, Missouri in February 2011.
