The Doerr Institute for New Leaders is a large-scale and globally recognized leader development enterprise at Rice University. The mission of the Institute is to elevate the leadership capacity of Rice students across the university and to improve the practice of leadership education and development in higher education. Because the path to leadership is different for everyone, so is the leadership training you’ll find at the Institute. Our objective is to connect students with the awareness and tools that will help them find, sharpen, and grow their true leadership potential. We’ve moved away from prescriptive, one-size-fits-all leadership training approaches, instead offering individualized guidance from certified coaches and professional leader developers. Beyond Rice, the Doerr Institute offers support to other higher education institutions eager to develop the leaders our society needs. This includes published and unpublished research, instruments, program specifications, measurement techniques, and a lean and effective business model that is powerfully developmental and about half the cost of classroom instruction.
