About Ride Splits

Ride Splits is the first social media that aims to connect people of similar origins and destinations so they can carpool together. Unlike traditional ride-sharing services, Ride Splits allows everyday commuters to offer rides along their usual routes, picking up other people in exchange for money. This app is meant to make commuting more affordable, sustainable, and efficient! We believe that everyone deserves the freedom to travel affordably and efficiently without the necessity of owning a car, we believe that our current commuting patterns are negatively impacting earth as much as they’re impacting our public infrastructure. We think that carpooling is the perfect solution to reduce car dependency, the stress on our infrastructure, and to popularize a more sustainable way of commuting in the United States. The problem is that even though carpooling is such a great thing for all its stakeholders, none is taking any active steps into formalizing carpooling as a method of transportation in the United States, and the ones who have tried in the past, have failed. That’s why our approach to encouraging carpooling is different, our app model follows a social media concept, where users can add friends and join groups that connect them to their commuting nodes of interest.
