About Right to Belong Initiative
Today, millions of people worldwide possess no nationality. They are stateless—unrecognized by any country as a citizen, and as a result, are denied basic human rights such as education, healthcare, legal employment, and freedom of movement. Many live in legal limbo, facing daily discrimination and marginalization in the places they call home. Yet, the existence of stateless individuals often goes unnoticed; their struggles remain largely invisible to governments, institutions, and the broader public. The Right to Belong Initiative is a youth-led global nonprofit working to end statelessness and promote legal identity for all through advocacy, research, education, and direct support. We advocate for inclusive citizenship policies, amplify the voices of stateless individuals, and connect marginalized communities to the tools and resources they need to live with dignity. Our work also supports stronger implementation of the 1954 and 1961 Statelessness Conventions and pushes for broader international protection mechanisms. At the core of this mission is a deep commitment to justice, inclusion, and human dignity because identity is not a privilege, it is a Right!
