About RISE Lab

At the RISE Lab, we believe that everyone deserves to live a healthy and fulfilled life regardless of their background. We use practical and community-engaged methods to improve delivery of programs that improve health. We do this with a key focus on underserved populations to reduce inequities. Our current project aims to research implementation of school meals policies to identify the barriers and facilitators of implementation and participation in the Universal School Meals program in the School District of Philadelphia. Our work emphasizes equitable implementation of policies, that we measured using tools that were developed using equity focused and implementation science frameworks. Our work also directly involves community members in a collaborative process to develop co-created local level dissemination products to share the findings from the study. We use a shared power and decision making approach to enhance sustainability of community partnerships.
