About RiTA (Rural Initiatives Tackling Abuse)
RiTA is the UK’s dedicated centre for enhancing rural responses to domestic abuse, stalking, and broader VAWG/C issues. We collaborate with local authorities, commissioners, services, and community leaders to co-create practical, place-based solutions that build on existing strengths and make change feasible in rural settings. We do not provide frontline services; instead, we advise, facilitate, connect, and empower partners to improve strategy, coordination, and outcomes for rural survivors. Every initiative is customised to your specific context, scale, and resources. We recognise that the expertise needed to create effective and impactful Coordinated Community Responses (CCRs) is right there in your community, and we want to work with you to identify and fully utilise that expertise. This is where good practice becomes embedded and sustainable, leading to economically efficient change. Whether you need a light-touch review, a facilitated workshop series, or a multi-phase rural strategy program, we’ll shape the support to fit your goals and budget. Let’s Work Together If you’re a commissioner, service lead, policymaker, practitioner, farming or rural community organisation, funder, or corporate partner with a rural footprint, we’d love to talk. Get in touch to explore how we can support safer systems and stronger outcomes for rural survivors. Join RiTA We are building national networks. One is to bring together commissioners and policy leads to form a collective voice for change; another is to connect specialists in rural services (all the services needed for an effective CCR) to share experiences, ideas, and challenges, thereby becoming solution-focused drivers for change collectively. Do you want to be part of the RiTA Network? Please contact us now.
