About Rocky Mountain Data Science

Our mission is to promote and foster skills and training in Data Science at and around Montana State University, with emphasis on workforce relevance. Partner with industry sponsors and University entities on Data Science training projects. In addition, we plan to participate in furthering STEM education and training at and around Montana State University, in particular as it pertains to Data Science; participate in related outreach activities. One fundamental goal is to provide members with a framework to experience coding for Data Science projects using open source software, allowing students to build coding portfolios and practice relevant software skills used in academia and industry. In the process of doing so, we hope to generate an environment for members that facilitates teamwork, encourages students to step outside standard coursework, and provides opportunities for peer mentoring and leadership experience.
