About Rocky Mountain French Bulldog Rescue
Rocky Mountain French Bulldog Rescue (RMFBR), a foster-based, CO 501(c)(3) (#47-2430608), has assisted in the rescue of over 100 dogs per year since 2014. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome special needs French Bulldogs, while advocating for responsible pet ownership and promoting compassion towards all animals. We are dedicated to providing medical care, fostering loving relationships, and cultivating a community of support for French Bulldogs and their adoptive families. Through education, outreach, and collaboration, we strive to create a world where every French Bulldog receives the love, care, and respect they deserve. We currently have three Board members and one full-time staff (Director). Our volunteer base and foster homes are currently at 330 for 2023 with a handful of 10 very dedicated volunteers. French bulldogs are brachycephalic (BOAS); shortened spines, short noses, flat faces and heads, and an elongated soft palate. This body shape causes respiratory distress and severe neurological issues. Surgical procedures can correct the stenotic nares and palate, giving them improved airflow through their nostrils, as well as a longer life span. BOAS can also cause syringomyelia and heart tumors (chemodectoma). Additionally, approximately 48% of Frenchies will experience some form of paralysis during their lifetime due to incorrectly formed spines which are congenital to the breed. Although there are a handful of French bulldog rescues in the United States, only RMFBR is attempting to take-in, rehabilitate, and find Furever Homes for French bulldogs with severe medical issues. ROCKY MOUNTAIN FRENCH BULLDOG RESCUE is a nonprofit organization based out of 2122 23RD ST, BOULDER, Colorado, United States.
