After being dreamed and talked about during many a booze addled night Rocstar was conceived between two collaborators and old mates Lee Potter (Cut La Roc of Skint fame) and Marco Distefano (then Director Of Music for BT and part time musician). ..Disenchanted by existing contracts Lee and Marco originally created Rocstar feeling there was a space in the industry for a record label that brought the very cutting edge of music to the forefront minus all the bollocks, and with Marcos’s business acumen and Lee’s repertoire and industry know how it all made perfect sense. ..Thus in 2000 Rocstar was finally born. A friend of Lee’s, Ashley Slater (Freak Power), inspired by the boys enthusiasm and with some tunes up his sleeve, was soon signed. Chad Jackson joined rank too and all was set. ..A couple of Ep’s down the line and all felt that there was definitely room for some new blood, so up stepped lofty young producer Hereldeduke (Ol Brown) throwing us some Hip Hop vibes featuring Kool Keith no less! The Beat Traffikers from the land of Oz also came knocking and were swiftly signed thanks to their unique Gold Coast blend of pop, breakbeat and punk. ..Into the future and Rocstar remains at the cutting edge of genre busting labels, never scared to stretch genres to breaking point this is our unique style.
