About Rohingya Justice Initiative- RJI
RJI is a grassroots organization formed and led by Rohingya, serving voluntarily for the sake of justice for the Rohingya survivors. RJI is comprises of human rights documenters trained in international best practices for human rights documentation, with both male and female members from various locations in Arakan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh Rohingya Camp. RJI is composed of an elected board, secretaries, and committees to carry out activities such as Human Rights documentation, Data management, Preservation, Advocacy, Truth Telling, and Memorialization. We are writing firstly to thank you for your extremely kind support for our efforts, and to seek the opportunity to meet with you to further explain our activities and seek your office’s ongoing assistance and support in pursuing justice for Rohingya survivors. By way of background, RJI is committed to supporting the investigation of crimes committed against the Rohingya population. We have been assisting The Gambia legal team working on the International Court of Justice (ICJ) case, International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Independent Investigative Mechanism for Myanmar (IIMM) with utmost dedication, including facilitating access to the Rohingya community in both the Bangladesh Rohingya Camps and Myanmar's Arakan state. We are prepared to serve as a bridge between Rohingya victims of genocide, and the ICJ, ICC, IIMM, and other domestic courts, in order to ensure that victims are kept informed of the progress of various investigations and cases. Moreover, RJI is well-positioned to support the ICC, ICJ, and IIMM’s outreach efforts within the Rohingya community. We have been actively engaged in human rights documentation since 2018, collecting testimonies from Rohingya victims and witnesses about crimes committed against them in Myanmar. Our efforts have resulted in more than a thousand testimonies that are recognized for their quality and comprehensive nature.
