About Rolling Pin Bakehouse
The Sugar Cream Pie Filling Mix is a convenient to store dry baking mix. The recipe is based off of a wildly popular secret family recipe for sugar cream pie. You just add water and whipping cream, cook for a few minutes in the microwave and bake for 30 minutes. You are then ready to enjoy a decadent, silky smooth pie that tastes just like what customers enjoyed over the years when pies were sold at the original Rolling Pin Bakehouse roadside stand. Our owner, Natalie Warner, comes from a long line of pie bakers. Her great-grandmother had a successful pie shop in the small town of Bippus, Indiana. That legacy has continued since. Natalie started baking pies on her own at age 12. In 2012 she started selling pies and other treats at a roadside stand on the gravel road in front of her home. As a stay-at-home mom of 4 kids, she wanted to do something that would be flexible with their schedules. The sugar cream pie, which is a secret family recipe created by Natalie’s mother, was by far the biggest seller. Natalie’s husband, Chad, built a great website for the bakery. Not too long after the site went live, Natalie was contacted by Rick Sebak from PBS WQED Pittsburgh to be part of his upcoming documentary about pie places throughout the United States, titled “A Few Good Pie Places.” Natalie and her family had enjoyed many of his documentaries over the years, so she was honored to be a part of one! Her mother, Carlene Staller, is also featured in the documentary. In 2018 Chad had a brilliant idea to create a pie filling mix that would be simple & convenient for customers to make on their own. So, Natalie got to work… After spending over a year on research and development, she finally had created the perfect mix for customers to enjoy! It tastes exactly like the decadent, silky-smooth sugar cream pie that customers enjoyed from the roadside stand. New flavors are being added as the company grows.
