About Roos van Soest

Roos van Soest received an education as a traditional jeweller at the Vakschool Edelsmeden Amsterdam (1996-2001). Here she laid the technical foundation enabling her to produce the complex pieces she envisages. Van Soest further explored the design profession during an art degree at the Hoge School voor de Kunsten Utrecht, 3D design (2001-2003), and took the opportunity to acquire a wide variety of knowledge in materials and techniques. She has chosen to finish her degree at the jewellery department of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, in order to specialise in jewellery. Here she has developed and refined her visual language. In 2006 she graduated with a detailed collection of jewellery and related photo manipulations in the theme 'Contemporary Ruins'. Van Soest took her masters degree at the Sandberg Institute of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. Here she explored the boundaries of her visual language and the different possibilities of expression within jewellery. In 2008 she graduated with a solo exhibition at the Rob Koudijs Gallery: 'Dreamland Circus Sideshow', a collection of jewellery pieces and related photo manipulations. Her work can now be viewed at different national and internatioonal exhibitions, shows and fairs.
