About Root Literacy Design
A Reading Crisis and Our Mission: A reading crisis exists across the country, where two-thirds of students are not proficient readers. This problem stems from a lack of training in the "science of reading" and Structured Literacy within most educator preparation programs. Root Literacy Design was founded to close this gap by providing educators with the tools and knowledge needed to implement evidence-based literacy so all students learn to read and write. Our Unique Approach to Professional Learning: What sets Root Literacy Design apart is our peer-to-peer approach to professional development. All of our virtual training is led by current educators who have firsthand experience implementing the science of reading in their own classrooms and schools. This peer-to-peer model ensures you receive practical, real-world guidance from a trainer who understands your role - teachers are trained by teachers, administrators by administrators, and coaches by coaches. Every professional learning pathway includes the option to join a virtual, small community of practice, where you can learn alongside others in your same role, and receive one-on-one support from a Root Literacy trainer to ensure your individual needs are met. Classroom-Tested Products: In addition to our consulting and professional learning services, we are committed to providing educators with the tools they need to implement evidence-based literacy. To ensure they are effective and provide the best results, we develop and refine all our products by testing them in real classrooms with teachers. Giving Back: We believe in giving back to our community and the educators who work so hard every day. We donate 10% of our store profits to provide K-12 students with decodable books. Ask us about our scholarships, including the Sandra Berkley Literacy Grant and the RITES Scholarship.
