About Rottnest Channel Swim Association

Incorporated in 1990 and hosting the first official swim across the Rottnest Channel in 1991, the Rottnest Channel Swim Association has been hosting, managing, and authenticating swims across the monumental Rottnest Channel for over 30 years. Our small and exceptionally passionate team comprises an Executive Officer, Event Manager, Admin and Marketing Coordinator and volunteer Board. It’s their hard work which ensures the RCSA delivers on our key objectives, one of which is hosting the South32 Rottnest Channel Swim. One of Australia’s most iconic community sporting events and one of the largest open water swim events in the world, the South32 Rottnest Channel Swim is a 19.7km open-water swim from Cottesloe Beach to Rottnest Island (Wadjemup). Participants can compete in teams of two or four, or the extremely dedicated can tackle the crossing solo. Our Champions of the Channel solo wave is filled with elite swimmers from around the country and the globe, who compete for the title of first across the channel. All swimmers have the opportunity to fundraise for a worthy cause of their choice - we're proud to have raised over $400,000 for incredible Australian charities through our 2023 swim. With a 32-year history of prestige and sporting excellence, the event greatly increases health and wellbeing in the community while providing a unique experience characterised by mateship and comradery. The next South32 Rottnest Channel Swim is on the 24th of February 2024, we look forward to seeing you there.
