About RTHC Bayer Leverkusen

The Rowing-Tennis-Hockey Club Bayer Leverkusen e.V. has just under 2000 members. In addition to its core sports of rowing, tennis, and hockey, it increasingly offers fitness and health sports. The RTHC was formed in 1951 through the merger of three formerly independent clubs: the rowing club founded in 1910, the tennis club from 1913, and the hockey club from 1919. Among its outstanding achievements are two Olympic victories (1992 in Barcelona, 1996 in Atlanta), seven Olympic silver medals, one bronze medal, and eight world championship titles. The most successful rower is Stephan Volkert. The ladies' and men's tennis teams play in the 2nd Bundesliga or the Oberliga. Athletes from the hockey department have contributed to the winning of numerous Olympic medals as well as world and European championship titles, with the women's teams winning several German championships. The multiple Paralympic swimming champion, Dr. Britta Siegers, has successfully transitioned to wheelchair tennis and currently holds the eighth position in the world rankings. To support both recreational and high-performance athletes, there are 20 full-time employees and 28 coaches and instructors available. The sports facilities of RTHC Bayer Leverkusen are located at three sites. The main headquarters of the rowing department is on the Rhine in Cologne-Stammheim, at Stammheimer Schlosspark: above the boat dock on the Rhine is the boathouse with publicly accessible catering, boat halls, rowing training pool, and exercise room. The training center for competitive rowers is located at Lake Fühlinger, the Cologne regatta course with World Championship experience. The sports facilities for tennis and hockey of RTHC are located at Kurtekotten. Around the clubhouse, also operated with public catering, there are 26 outdoor tennis courts, two indoor tennis halls with a total of seven courts, a multipurpose hall with a fitness room, an all-weather multipurpose court, and a beach volleyball court.
