About Running Deer
Running Deer is a Devon based Community Interest Company established in 2011 to provide opportunities for children, young people and adults including those at risk of exclusion; and local people & communities living in rural isolation without easy access to education, employment or training. Our community projects are core to our aims and objectives. We have successfully delivered projects supporting people at risk of exclusion including rural skills education, horticultural projects and school initiatives. Running Deer C.I.C also operates Running Deer School, an independent school for children with special educational needs. Running Deer have a unique perspective in our approach to challenges and projects. We are determined to help make a difference to people and communities who are often marginalised in society. We provide access to learning outside the classroom, training, volunteering, life skills opportunities and work experience in traditional and rural skills, bushcraft and survival skills, animal assisted interventions, woodland and land conservation and related activities. Our ethos is to: Be ethical in everything we do. Be user led and transparent at all times. Promote inclusiveness and support social enterprise. Make a positive difference to people’s lives. Provide opportunities with a difference! Campaign on behalf of the environment at a local level. Based on Dartmoor - Running Deer is governed by a board of Volunteer Directors and Executive Directors, an amazing team of social entrepreneurs, neurodiverse individuals and changemakers who bring a unique approach to everything we do.
