About Rural Reach
At Rural Reach, we are dedicated to creating meaningful change in the lives of vulnerable communities across the Northern and Western Cape, with a primary focus on the town of Villiersdorp. Villiersdorp faces significant challenges: - Only 22% of residents have completed Grade 12 or higher. - A dependency ratio of 42% places immense pressure on households and caregivers. Our mission centers around addressing the needs of children and young mothers in this community. Teenage pregnancy during schooling years is a recurring issue, often leading to high dropout rates and limiting future employment opportunities. Many of these young mothers face the dual burden of raising children without adequate knowledge or support, often in the absence of the father. Additionally, countless children come from broken households, living with grandparents or single parents, and face severe financial hardships, leaving basic needs unmet. OUR WORK: Operating from our Care Centre, we lead a range of impactful projects designed to empower and uplift the community: - Many Meals: Distributing food parcels to vulnerable families to combat hunger and food insecurity. - People with Promise: Providing personalized guidance and support to individuals seeking educational advancement or career opportunities. - Care Centre: Supporting young mothers with childcare resources, education, and life skills, enabling them to complete their schooling while raising their children. Beyond these core initiatives, we also provide ad hoc assistance to address immediate community needs, such as: - Supplying winter school uniforms for struggling students. - Providing educational materials to local schools. - Assisting with transportation and accommodation for students pursuing further education. Rural Reach remains committed to fostering hope and creating opportunities for those living in poverty. To learn more or get involved, visit www.ruralreach.org.
