About Rushmore Electric Power Cooperative
Rushmore Electric is the wholesale power provider for eight rural electric cooperatives in western and central South Dakota. Rushmore Electric buys the bulk of its power from Basin Electric Power Cooperative who operates coal-fired plants, natural gas plants, renewable energy facilities, and a nuclear plant in Wyoming, Iowa, Montana, South Dakota, and North Dakota. Rushmore Electric offers the followings services/divisions: - Rushmore Engineering: A reliable transmission and distribution network are essential for delivering power from generating facilities to the homes and businesses of electric co-op members. Rushmore Engineering’s staff provides Engineering, Planning, and Technical Assistance to the members on a as needed basis. Rushmore Engineering is an integral part of the process of delivering reliable and affordable electric service to our cooperative members. - Rushmore Communications: The company’s communications subsidiary operates a number of electronic control systems, wireless communications networks and computer systems. Rushmore Communications provides radio communications services to public safety organizations in the Black Hills and surrounding area and to member co-ops in its service region. - Rushmore Federal Credit Union: Rushmore Electric Federal Credit Union was formed to assist employees and directors of rural electric cooperatives with their financial needs and planning in September 1964. We are proud to be part of the Touchstone Energy Cooperative Family.
