About Safe Families Canada

Safe Families Canada is a movement fueled by compassion to keep children safe and families intact. Our volunteers serve families in crisis by opening their hands, their hearts, and their homes. When a crisis strikes, many of us rely on relatives and friends for support. But some families are socially isolated, with no extended family available. In crisis situations, these parents may be incapable of providing a safe and caring environment for their children, putting them at risk of abuse or neglect. Safe Families creates extended family–like supports for these families in need through a community of devoted volunteers who are mobilized through the local church and motivated by their faith. Parents experiencing a temporary crisis can arrange for their children (newborn through 18 years old) to stay with Safe Families volunteers while they address the issues that led to the instability in their lives. Safe Families is an opportunity for volunteers to have a powerful impact in the lives of others through practicing biblical hospitality and extending the love of Christ to people in need—all from their own home! We are currently operating in Ontario (Toronto, London, Kitchener-Waterloo) and Manitoba (Winnipeg).
