Safe Food Matters Inc. is a Canadian charity working to ensure our food and drug products are safe. The focus of our work is in the legal and regulatory arena. Our president, Mary Lou McDonald is a lawyer with 30 years experience, and our board has corporate and non-profit experience in business, marketing communications and activism. Our current focus areas are glyphosate, chlorpyrifos, and GM (genetically edited products). We are going to court over Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency's rejection, for the second time, of our objections to the 2017 re-registration of glyphosate (in Round Up weed killer). The PMRA did not follow the Guidance provided to it by the Federal Court of Appeal in our successful case in early 2022: https://canlii.ca/t/jm3jh. It crafted a completely new test for public participation that is almost impossible to meet, and made up brand new excuses for not dealing with risks associated with glyphosate, even though it acknowledged the risks.
