About Safer Lives

Established by qualified Probation Officers in 2014. Safer Lives works independently with those under investigation for sexual offences. Our aim is to reduce reoffending, reduce suicides of suspects and their families and prevent further sexual harm. We also work with individuals who may not have behaved illegally but are worried about their sexual thoughts or behaviours or feel distressed by thoughts they have. This can include compulsive pornography use, chat room addiction and those who identify as minor attracted. We work closely with police forces, the Probation Service, legal services and third sector agencies to ensure those who want to make changes are given the help and opportunity to do so. We work in partnership with clinical supervisors and researchers from Sheffield Hallam University to ensure our practice is up to date and beneficial for our clients. All of our work is funded by the clients we see, assessments we do for Children's Services and Courts, or training that we provide. This is to ensure that we are client led with no agenda but to reduce reoffending rates of those who have, or may go on to, commit sexual offences.
