Safety Brake Set Inc. (SBS) Was founded in 1989. Frank Williams, a former IBM executive and owner of a small trucking company, witnessed a serious accident that would change the focus of his professional life forever. The accident was the result of a “roll-away” vehicle in which the driver had failed to properly set the brake and secure the vehicle before exiting the driver’s seat. “The Safety Brake Set System was born.” Frank began to utilize his talents as an inventor and a technician to create a system that could alert a driver that the vehicle’s “Parking Brake” or “ Emergency Brake” had not been set BEFORE completely leaving the seat. Additional research led to the development of another system that would not only provide an ALERT, but could actually ACTIVATE the vehicle’s parking brake system upon the driver leaving the seat. Roll away accidents are preventable and can be avoided with the use of SBS automated safety system’s, especially when coupled with operator training, best management practices, focused safety programs and of course, programmed vehicle maintenance.
