“The greatest thing in the world is doing good for someone else”. With over 2000 volunteers, SAHI – Special Hessed (Grace) Unit, is one of Israel’s promising social enterprises. We operate with the youth in the Israeli social and geographic periphery, spread across the country. At SAHI, rather than approaching the youth with the message “We’re here to help you”, our message is: “We need your help to help others”. For the first time in their lives, these teenagers, often removed from educational frameworks, are filled with purpose, and choose a path towards personal and community development. The teenagers identify needs in their communities, and secretly provide food for impoverished families on a regular basis. They also initiate a variety of local giving activities such as renovating homes of elderly people, assisting children with disabilities, volunteering with Holocaust survivors, and more. They become a model of inspiration for the entire community.
