About SAIIE - Spanish American Institute of International Education
Located in Seville, Spain, the Spanish American Institute of International Education (SAIIE) is a study abroad program affiliated with the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Since its foundation in 1984, SAIIE’s mission has been to help students to fulfill their potential, acquire knowledge, understand a new culture and gain independence in our culturally diverse and global society. Whilst the core of our program lies in academics, we structure our courses around the active integration and immersion of our students into the Spanish lifestyle and culture. With this in mind, we place students in carefully selected Spanish host families so they have the chance to put into practice what they learn in the classroom every day in their new homes. We often use the city itself as the classroom for our lessons, exploring the rich Sevillian architecture and traditions. We offer a very successful language exchange service (intercambio program) where we partner American students with Spanish students to provide a fun and relaxed way of improving speaking skills in real-life situations. Daily cultural activities help students to get to know the city as if it were their own, whilst various weekend and field trips give them the chance to travel and see other parts of Spain during their study abroad experience. SAIIE offers academic programs throughout the year in Seville through the University of Sevilla and the EUSA private institution which is affiliated to the University of Sevilla. In addition to our academic programs, we now run faculty led programs for university groups coming abroad with professors, as well as our innovative athletic programs for US college student-athletes wanting to have a study abroad experience. SAIIE is recognized as a Cambridge ESOL Preparation Centre as well as an official test center for DELE exams.
