Honoring those challenged by cancer by harnessing the healing powers of wind, water and sail. The lines are cast off. In moments, you are out beyond the breakwater and mooring field. The diesel engine pulses steadily - and then - in an instant - it ceases. The absence of mechanical sound is replaced by lapping water against the hull of a majestic sailboat carrying you forward with the breezes of Lake Champlain. There you are, finally, away from it all, with those who mean most to you. Sail Beyond Cancer Vermont honors people who are living with cancer by giving them an opportunity to take a break on the lake and experience the healing powers of mother nature through sailing. “We need to engage and find ways to support those among us who need and benefit from every moment that allows them to step away from the fears and stresses that cancer presents daily.” Our program relies on dedicated volunteers from within our Vermont community! We have a presence right here in Burlington, Vermont and we are connected to Sail Beyond Cancer USA the umbrella nonprofit dedicated to expand this mission throughout United States.
