About Sallie Foundation

The Sallie Foundation was formed to create a vehicle to inspire and encourage future generations of students to explore careers in infrastructure. The roads, water, sewer, transportation, and building infrastructure we count on daily offer both the opportunity to help the community while working in a field that has stable, well-paying jobs. With a community-first mindset, our mission is to expose students and adults to careers that directly build, operate, and maintain the public infrastructure we often take for granted. The Sallie Foundation will do this through outreach in the community, scholarships, and mentoring of students. Joshua’s own life was changed at a chance career fair he attended in the seventh grade where a slide listed the top-earning careers at the time. He remembers this vividly today: #1 Lawyer – $50,000/year, #2 Engineer – $35,000/year. Knowing he enjoyed math and science, he set his sights on becoming an engineer. That one event set him on a path to where he is today. Through this foundation, we aim to find and support more individuals like Joshua, those who, with the right exposure and encouragement, can build meaningful careers that improve their communities.
