About Salt Lake Donated Dental Services
Since 1990, Salt Lake Donated Dental Services (SLDDS) has provided dental care to the homeless and indigent of Salt Lake with the support and commitment of our community. The treatment philosophy of SLDDS is premised upon the belief that a healthy smile should not be limited to those with financial means. With community commitment, our founder, Dr. Ralph Montgomery, believed those with no other access to dental services could receive sorely needed, quality dental care. As the only free safety-net dental service agency in our community providing expanded services, for many, SLDDS is the only access to dental care. Free dental services are available for those who financially qualify (100% and below the federal poverty level). As services are provided for by volunteer dental professionals, the schedule can vary daily, depending on when we have a dentist or hygienist volunteering services and the specialty they provide. In July of 2009, after repeated requests from patients, SLDDS expanded our services to include the Discounted Dental Program. In addition to our Donated Dental Program, SLDDS now offers discounted dental treatment for those who are 101-200% of the federal poverty level. This program offers preventative and restorative dentistry at a significantly discounted rate for those who can't afford private office fees. Patients must income qualify for this program and payment is required in full at the time of service.
