About Saltamontes Network

Saltamontes is a Colombian non-profit organization that operates internationally to equip youth leaders from socio-geographically isolated communities with the tools, skills, strategies, opportunities, and connections necessary to build positive peace for themselves. We offer guidance and support to our network of youth leaders and their initiatives to mitigate and transform the conditions of socio-geographic isolation that hinder the construction of positive peace in historically marginalized communities in Colombia. Working closely with local stakeholders, we develop, support, and implement innovative and impactful projects in our beneficiary communities, guided always by the principles of participatory action research, social innovation, and peace and conflict studies. In addition to serving as an opportunity-generating collaborative network composed of bright young people, genuine leaders, and transformative organizations — especially women, survivors of the Armed Conflict, LGBT+ individuals, members of recognized ethnic communities, and other demographic minorities — Saltamontes constitutes a bridge that both facilitates collaboration between communities facing similar challenges, and also connects them to resources from academia, government, the private sector, and national and international civil society.
