As the region's original non-profit hospice provider, San Diego Hospice and The Institute for Palliative Medicine is winding down operations after 37 years of caring for our community. Although minimal administrative operations continue, patient and family care services have been discontinued. Our deepest appreciation and gratitude goes to our staff and volunteers - the incredible individuals who have worked tirelessly, and volunteered diligently, to fulfill the mission of San Diego Hospice. To the community and to our business and civic leaders, we have been honored to be a trusted and respected health care resource for those seeking quality and compassionate end-of-life care services, and we are grateful to have been your hospice provider of choice. To all of our partners in the health care industry and academic institutions worldwide, we thank you for your support and collaboration throughout the years. We will all be forever grateful to our founder, Dr. Doris Howell, for her vision, perseverance, and dedication to the hospice and palliative care movement locally, nationally and globally.
