About San Francisco Achievers
San Francisco Achievers is a community-based nonprofit organization providing college scholarships and high school college support services to African-American male high school students in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). In addition, SF Achievers provides a holistic approach to serving the needs of African-American male students in San Francisco. Currently, we offer the following programs to support students and help them gain the skills needed to compete in today’s competitive academic and social environments: - The High School Program currently operates in 5 San Francisco High Schools and offers four-year academic enrichment to students beginning in their freshman year. This comprises of one-on-one and group activities to explore, educate and empower for them to not only graduate high school, but have a plan of action for the future. - Leadership Academy - Our newest program, opens the application process early to high-school juniors. Juniors who apply are pre-selected to receive a scholarship if they maintain academically, attend summer events and monthly workshops that start their senior year of high school. This year long utilizes monthly workshops that consist of two main components: practical college-readiness, skill-building, and identity discussions along with bonding activities. This full year spent with students allows them to develop deep and trusting bonds with peers and support prior to their departure to college. - College Program - Our scholarship is open to every qualified African American male student in the San Francisco Unified School District. If granted a scholarship, the students are enrolled into the College Program which supports them with special events, mentors and some case management in order to empower them to not only graduate, but to Achieve what their dreams are.
