We are the San Gabriel Valley Community Land Trust (SGV CLT)! We are a nonprofit making land and housing permanently affordable across the San Gabriel Valley. Our mission is to keep families rooted and housing stable across generations. We do this by removing land from the speculative market and placing it under community stewardship, where it can support housing, culture, and connection — not displacement or short-term profit. CLTs were born out of the Civil Rights Movement of the 60s and are a proven local strategy in the fight for housing justice. While most CLTs today focus on a single neighborhood or city, the SGV CLT works across the entire San Gabriel Valley. This regional approach allows us to: - Support multiple communities experiencing displacement - Preserve affordability across city boundaries - Help new, smaller CLTs get started with shared infrastructure - Offer leadership training, community education, and policy advocacy Why the San Gabriel Valley? The SGV is rich in cultural history and community strength. It’s home to Indigenous, Latine, and Asian American families with deep ties to the region. It also spans two major freeways and two County Supervisorial districts — and yet, it’s often left out of city-centered housing conversations. SGV CLT was created to change that. We are building infrastructure that can hold not just homes, but histories and futures — led by the people who live here. Our EIN number is 88-1302972.
