San Marcos High School is the best of the three comprehensive high schools in the Santa Barbara Unified School District. The school has approximately 2000 students, 200 staff, 150 palm trees, and the best athletic and performing arts programs in the area. The graduation rate is over 95% and SMHS offers all the AP and Dual Enrollment classes anyone could want. The school celebrates its diverse student body and community and has 8 sections of AVID, and offers the only Health Academy, Education Pathway, Entrepreneurship Academy, and Leadership Academy in the district.
