If you’ve gotten in a fight over politics with someone you love, you probably understand the temptation to just stop talking about politics altogether. At Sandbox, we know the feeling, and we don’t think it should have to be this way. We created the Sandbox app to get people to talk to each other about politics. The goal is for people who disagree on some things (and agree on others) to have productive, sometimes messy conversations. We’re not trying to change anyone’s minds, we’re just trying to get people to understand how the other side actually thinks. One of the reasons we love the one-on-one conversation format is that it gives you a chance to make mistakes. On larger platforms, it can be scary to discuss your opinions for fear that people might judge or attack you. On Sandbox, the only person who will see your responses is your partner. As long as you are earnestly trying to understand each other, not change each other’s minds or argue, we expect the conversations to be productive.
