About Sango Nature Project
The Sango Nature Project is an initiative aimed at at securing and amplifying the unique impact of the Sango Wildlife Reserve for the next 50 years, thereby demonstrating the viability of a large-scale integrated conservation model combining biodiversity protection, climate change mitigation, and community empowerment. Sango is a natural reserve of approximately 60,000 hectares located in the southeast of Zimbabwe, within the Savé Valley Conservancy and connectable the Greater Limpopo Transfrontier Conservation Area. A rewilding and conservation program has been carried out in the reserve for over 30 years, turning what used to be a failed cattle ranch into a thriving ecosystem featuring a wide diversity of landscapes (savannah, wetlands, mopane forests, etc.) as well as iconic protected species such as white and black rhinos, wild dogs, hooded and white-back vultures, etc. Our mission is to keep securing this incredible haven of wilderness and keep pushing ambition even further. Standing at the crossroads of biodiversity protection, climate resilience, and local development, the project is supported by strong a governance and recognised certifications: TÜV-Nord for the carbon stocked in the site ecosystems, IUCN Green List certification in progress for ecological management, and a B Corp certification process underway for all activities.
