Sanitas Health Consulting is named for the beloved climbing mountain just west of Boulder, and also for the origin of the name Sanitas, latin for "sanity and health". The Boulder Sanitarium was founded in 1896 at the base of Sanitas on the general principles of healing the body and soul, as developed by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg from Battle Creek, Michigan. The first organized trail up the mountain was built for purpose of patients enjoying fresh air and exercise. Dr. Kellogg's believed these actions were part of a constellation that would promote health, along with a healthy diet and good sleep. These ideas were well ahead of their time. Dr. Tom Kunstman has embraced these principles - connecting is his passion! Whether it is connecting a person with the correct diagnosis, finding the absolute best diagnostic tests, sorting out optimal treatment plans, finding the most up-to-date comprehensive health information, or just bringing people together, he thrives on making connections. Dr. Kunstman's experience in Primary Care and College Health has guided him to combine tried-and-true practices with innovative, industry-transforming models for health care delivery. He fervently believes in providing the best quality care possible and uses every resource available to help patients live their best possible lives. The basic tenet of Sanitas Health Consulting is evaluate each person individually and holistically, within the community that surrounds them. Creating community creates success; “it takes a village” to support every one of us. Lastly, and especially during this challenging time of COVID-19, Dr. Kunstman believes in the power of prevention - as Ben Franklin once said "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
